What does “Issued” mean on a building permit?
Also shown as: Issued (LADBS / Accela)Permit Issued (Accela)Issuance Phase (San Diego DSD)
The permit has officially been issued and construction can begin. This is the same meaning across every portal we track: at LADBS 'Issued' means the permit is officially issued and construction can begin; on Accela portals 'Issued' / 'Permit Issued' means the same thing. Your project is now legally authorized to proceed through its inspection stages.
What should you do when a permit shows “Issued”?
Begin construction and schedule your inspections as you complete each stage (foundation, framing, MEP rough-in, etc.). An inspection is required before you cover or conceal any completed work. Watch your permit's expiration date — if construction pauses for an extended period (over 6 months at LADBS), the permit can expire and require reactivation.
