Terms of Service

Welcome to SignedOff. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the SignedOff web application located at signedoff.io (the "Service"), operated by SignedOff ("we," "us," or "our"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. Description of Service

SignedOff is a permit tracking application designed for contractors, homeowners, architects, solar installers, real estate agents, and other professionals involved in the building permit process. The Service allows users to track building permits, monitor permit statuses, receive automated email notifications, generate PDF reports with QR codes, and manage permit-related workflows. The Service retrieves permit information from publicly available government sources but does not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or timeliness of such data.

2. Accounts

To use the Service, you must create an account with a valid email address and password. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. You agree to notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account.

You must be at least 18 years old to create an account and use the Service. By creating an account, you represent that you meet this age requirement.

3. Free Trial

We may offer a free trial period for new users. No credit card is required to start a free trial. During the trial period, you may track up to 3 active permits. At the end of the trial period, your access to paid features will be restricted unless you subscribe to a paid plan. Each user is entitled to one free trial; returning users who have previously used a trial will not receive a second trial period. We reserve the right to modify or discontinue the free trial at any time.

4. Subscription and Billing

4.1 Plans and Pricing

The Service is offered through subscription plans billed on a monthly basis. Plans include a Solo plan for individual users and a Team plan that supports up to 3 team members with shared permit and project data. Current plan details and pricing are available on our website. We reserve the right to change pricing with 30 days' notice to active subscribers.

4.2 Payment

Payments are processed through Stripe. By subscribing, you authorize us to charge your payment method on a recurring basis. You are responsible for keeping your payment information current.

4.3 Cancellation

You may cancel your subscription at any time through your account settings. Upon cancellation, you will retain access to paid features through the end of your current billing period. We do not offer prorated refunds for partial billing periods.

5. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable laws
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service, other accounts, or related systems
• Use automated tools (bots, scrapers, crawlers) to access the Service except through features we expressly provide
• Interfere with or disrupt the integrity or performance of the Service
• Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble any part of the Service
• Resell, sublicense, or redistribute access to the Service without our written consent
• Upload or transmit malicious code, viruses, or harmful content

6. Your Data

You retain ownership of all data you input into the Service, including permit numbers, project details, and related information ("Your Data"). You grant us a limited license to use, store, and process Your Data solely to provide and improve the Service. We will not share Your Data with third parties except as described in our Privacy Policy.

6.1 Team Data Sharing

If you are part of a Team plan, permits and projects you create may be visible to other members of your team. The team owner controls membership. By joining a team, you consent to sharing your permit and project data with other team members.

6.2 Public Permit Sharing

The Service allows you to share permit information via QR codes and public share links. When you generate a QR code or share link for a permit, a limited summary of that permit's information (including permit number, status, and jurisdiction) is accessible to anyone with the link. You are responsible for controlling who receives your share links.

6.3 PDF Reports

The Service generates downloadable PDF reports containing your permit data. These reports may include QR codes linking to public permit pages. You are responsible for the distribution and security of exported PDF reports.

7. Intellectual Property

The Service, including its design, code, features, logos, and documentation, is owned by SignedOff and protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. These Terms do not grant you any ownership rights in the Service. The SignedOff name and logo are trademarks of SignedOff.

8. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure. Permit data retrieved through the Service is sourced from third-party government systems, and we make no guarantees regarding its accuracy or availability. You are responsible for independently verifying permit information before relying on it for business decisions.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, SignedOff shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of profits, data, business opportunities, or goodwill, arising out of or related to your use of the Service.

Our total liability for any claims arising under these Terms shall not exceed the amount you paid to us in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim.

10. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless SignedOff and its officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, or expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from your use of the Service, violation of these Terms, or infringement of any third-party rights.

11. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time, with or without cause, and with or without notice. Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately. We may delete your account and data within 30 days of termination, unless retention is required by law.

You may terminate your account at any time by contacting us or using the account deletion feature in your settings.

12. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict of laws provisions. Any disputes arising under these Terms shall be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Los Angeles County, California.

13. Dispute Resolution

Before filing any legal action, you agree to first attempt to resolve any dispute informally by contacting us. If the dispute is not resolved within 30 days, either party may proceed with legal action as described in the Governing Law section.

14. Changes to These Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated Terms on the Service and updating the effective date. Your continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

15. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid, that provision shall be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect.

16. Entire Agreement

These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and SignedOff regarding your use of the Service and supersede any prior agreements.
