What does “Cancelled / Void” mean on a building permit?

Also shown as: Cancelled (Accela / LADBS)Void / Voided (Accela / LADBS / EPIC-LA)Canceled (EPIC-LA / Pomona)

The permit has been cancelled or voided and is no longer valid. On Accela portals (San Diego, San Bernardino), 'Cancelled' / 'Void' means the permit was cancelled and is no longer valid. This is a terminal, closed status — the permit record exists but carries no authorization to do work.

What should you do when a permit shows “Cancelled / Void”?

If the cancellation was unexpected, contact the building department to learn why and whether it can be reinstated. If you still intend to do the work, you will likely need to apply for a new permit. A voided permit provides no legal cover for construction, so do not proceed under it.
