What does “Permit Revoked” mean on a building permit?

Also shown as: Intent to Revoke (LADBS)Permit Revoked (LADBS)Revoked (EPIC-LA / Pomona)

The city has revoked, or is in the process of revoking, your permit. At LADBS, 'Intent to Revoke' means the revocation process has begun and no inspections can occur, while 'Permit Revoked' means the permit is officially revoked and no longer active. Revocation is more serious than expiration — it is the city actively pulling the permit, often tied to a compliance or enforcement issue.

What should you do when a permit shows “Permit Revoked”?

If you see 'Intent to Revoke', contact the building department urgently — there may still be time to resolve the underlying issue and stop the revocation. Once 'Permit Revoked', the permit is dead and you cannot inspect or continue work under it; you will need to address the cause and likely refile. Do not perform work under a revoked permit.
