What does “Plan Review” mean on a building permit?

Also shown as: Plan Review (Accela)PC Assigned (LADBS)PC Assigned-2nd Engr (LADBS)Regular Plan Check / Counter Plan Check (LADBS)Review Phase (San Diego DSD)

Active plan check is in progress and your project is assigned to one or more plan check engineers. At LADBS, 'PC Assigned' means plans are assigned to a plan check engineer; 'PC Assigned-2nd Engr' means a second engineer was added for additional review, which is common on complex projects. On Accela portals, 'Plan Review' means active plan check is underway and each discipline issues its own 'Cycle Issues Report' as it finishes.

What should you do when a permit shows “Plan Review”?

Wait for the reviewer(s) to finish. On Accela (San Diego DSD), all assigned disciplines must complete before you can resubmit, and corrections must be consolidated into a single resubmittal package — you cannot reply to one discipline at a time. Expect the next status to be 'Corrections Required' / 'Recheck' or an approval status.
